หลังก่อเหตุฉาวสะท้านโลกเมื่อวันที่ 27 มีนาคมที่ผ่านมา วิล ออกมาขอโทษทางสถาบัน ,คริส ร็อก ไปจนถึงผู้ชมทั่วโลกกับการกระทำของตัวเอง ก่อนลาออกจากสถาบันเพื่อแสดงความรับผิดชอบ ทั้งยังน้อมรับทุกการตัดสินใจของสถาบันที่มีต่อตัวเขาอีกด้วย ขณะที่สถาบันก็ออกแถลงการณ์ขอโทษกับการรับมือกับสถานการณ์ดังกล่าว ด้วยการให้ วิล สมิธ ยังคงร่วมงานออสการ์ต่อจนจบ ก่อนจะเรียกประชุมหารือด่วนในวันที่ 8 เมษายน พร้อมได้ข้อสรุปในการแบน วิล สมิธ เป็นเวลา 10 ปีนั่นเอง ที่สำคัญ สถาบันยังขอโทษ และชื่นชม คริส ร็อก ในการรับมือกับสถานการณ์อันน่าตกใจได้เป็นอย่างดีอีกด้วย : ภาพ- ข่าว AP
